Match report Rain was never far away as we travelled to Little Berkhampstead.
After some deliberation our opposition, having won the toss, elected to bat. As thunder rumbled all around us we completed the first innings. A fine team performance restricted the 4th place team in the league to 154 all out, within 52 overs, thus providing us with an additional over to chase the target. Jay Patel was the pick of the bowlers with 4 wickets, ably assisted by Dilip Patel and Sig Dolan. In addition there was an encouraging spell of spin from late debutant Luke Wilde. Their efforts were enhanced by a fine fielding display which included 2 run outs involving Andy “The Cat” Stanier.
Ultimately however these efforts were in vain as our reply was halted by the advent of lightning and heavy rain after only 10.5 overs, at which time we were handily placed on 28 for no wicket.
