WGCCC has updated its Practice Facilities Policy to strengthen player safety and awareness following the tragic death of a 17-year-old amateur cricketer in Melbourne — a rare but preventable incident highlighted recently by the BBC.
Two key changes have been introduced:

Sidearm Use: Sidearms can propel the ball at high speed and are difficult to control. They should now only be used by qualified coaches or experienced adults.

Helmet Neck Guards: All players are strongly encouraged to wear helmets fitted with neck guards or stem guards when batting or keeping wicket.
These updates are simple but vital steps to reduce risk and protect everyone using the nets.
