Match report Summer having finally arrived we went to Flamstead II on a dry and reasonably warm day.
Having secured the services of Phil Driver at the 11th hour for a limited period of time Welwyn won the toss and fielded, Phil being the designated wicket keeper for the day and only available until 6.00pm.
This proved to be a successful decision as we steadily worked our way through their batting order despite some ordinary fielding. The late introduction of Nikki Little for her first spell of the season finished off the innings in the last over available, Nikki successfully managing to take the 2 wickets required, as requested by her captain. Flamstead therefore closed on 149 all out.
Despite the best efforts of 7 opposition bowlers, Welwyn cruised to victory in the 35th over of their reply. Everybody contributed to the innings, with Man (Woman) of the Match Nikki little completing a fine day at the office with 29 not out having earlier got a run out to add to her 2 wickets. One of these courtesy of a fine catch at cover by Jonti (Rhodes) Mester.
Overall a good team performance.
