Welwyn Garden City Cricket Club Saturday 4th XI v Preston III on Sat 11 Aug 2012 at 13h00
Welwyn Garden City Cricket Club Won

Match report A beautiful day greeted Preston III to Old Welwyn.
The wicket was “a road” and naturally Preston won the toss and batted.
However they had reckoned without the opening par of Andy Moscrop and Lutf Ul Islam who made life extremely difficult. Andy in particular bowled a hostile opening spell. Progress was slow and whilst Preston scored few runs, Welwyn struggled to break through. However with the reintroduction of the opening bowlers the game shifted into overdrive with Preston losing their last 5 wickets for next to nothing, leaving them 140 all out. Andy finished with a Man of the Match 5 wicket haul, all clean bowled.
Welwyn’s reply got off to a “biffing” start with Dan Byford in punishing form ably assisted by Leslie Meyer. On Dan’s departure the innings slowed but the back of the total had been broken and though there was a slight stumble, the momentum generated by the early exchanges carried us to a 5 wicket victory within 33 overs. All the batters contributed.
Another fine team performance.
