Welwyn Garden City Cricket Club Saturday 4th XI v Pirton on Sat 08 Sep 2012 at 12h30
Welwyn Garden City Cricket Club Lost

Match report Late summer sunshine greeted the visit of Pirton to Old Welwyn.
Having lost the toss we were put into bat and after a solid, but unspectacular opening, the innings exploded into life with a fantastic 3rd wicket partnership between Jordan Brunel (58) and Harry Peterkin (55). However we were unable to capitalise fully on their efforts and despite a late rally finished on 198-9, some 25 runs short of the intended target.
This proved to be the difference between the 2 sides and despite our best efforts Pirton completed their victory in 44.4 overs for the loss of 5 wickets.
It should be noted that we fielded the majority of the Pirton innings with ten men after Harry Peterkin sustained an injury whilst trying to prevent the ball reaching the boundary. This has subsequently been shown to be a fractured pelvis. We wish him well and look forward to seeing him again next year fully recovered.
The team performed magnificently again and never gave up the fight despite the circumstances.
Thank you for your efforts today and throughout the season.
You have made skippering the team a lot easier through your hard work and fine performances.
