Met Police Bushey (Semi Final) v Welwyn Garden City Cricket Club Under 11B (8-a-side) on Sun 15 Jul 2012 at 10h30
Welwyn Garden City Cricket Club Won by 19 runs

Match report WGC batted first. Oliver and Alex opened the batting, playing straight and ensuring WGC didn’t lose any early wickets. Jay and Ben opened the bowling for MP and bowled straight and didn’t offer Oliver or Alex much opportunity to hit the boundaries to enable WGC to get off to a flying start. Nevertheless some sensible batting and good running between the wickets got WGC to 15 for none after 4 overs. Next in were Finn and Sam J. From the start they were positive and hit some lovely shots to the boundary. In an excellent 4 overs, they scored 36 runs for the loss of no wicket. Sam top scored with a superb 22 runs. The third pair to bat were Matt and Adam. Against some good bowling by Luke and Mitchell, Matt hit some nice shots and Adam defended stoutly. Unfortunately, a wicket was lost in their last over but they still scored a respectable 9 runs. Last in were Nathan and Saw W. Again it was good to watch some sensible batting, playing straight to some good tidy bowling by Ben and Luke. The last ball of WGC innings was a wicket but by then Nathan and Sam had managed to score 14 runs and bring the total to 274 for 2. On a good batting wicket MP bowled exceptionally well, only conceding 5 wides in total.
Opening the bowling for WGC were Nathan and Oliver. In Oliver’s 2nd over he took two wickets in two balls, the second and sharp caught and bowled. WGC didn’t bowl as well as we know they can and this was shown by the 16 wides they bowled. Thankfully, Matt did bowl well, picking up two crucial wickets to curtail the MP run-chase. Bowling figures of note…Oliver 3 overs 3 wickets for -2 runs; Matt 2 overs 2 for -2 runs. In trying to chase runs at the end of their innings, MP lost a few wickets to run-outs and ended at 255 for 7. WGC progressed to the final.
