Tring Park v Welwyn Garden City Cricket Club Under 14 A on Sun 15 Jul 2012 at 18h00
Welwyn Garden City Cricket Club Lost by 15 runs
Match report
A close and pulsating quarter final, left WGC just short after a tense run chase. Tring batted first and WGC never allowed Tring to get going, thanks to tight bowling, and some breathtaking fielding, the highlights being a catch on the boundary by Connor taking the ball right on the boundary edge, and an outstanding catch by Jordan at midwicket, running flat out then diving backwards and emerging with the ball.
WGC replied looking very comfortable 48 off the first nine overs. Jordan batting soundly for 27. Scoreboard pressure began to tell once the spinners came on, Connor breaking loose with a massive six far into the tennis courts in the corner of the ground, but WGC subsided to 87 all out as the run rate increased.
The defeat knocked WGC out of the County cup. Here's to another attempt next season.
